October Renewal Notices Will Be Mailed Late

  • Why are the October renewal notices being mailed late?

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) experienced an unexpected delay in the transmission of renewal notice data to all Tax Collectors.  Our office should have received the data from the DHSMV early last month; however, a communication from the DHSMV on September 11, 2009, stated they are “conducting an additional quality review of the data,” which should “ensure that the information contained” is correct.  They hope to have the review completed and the data sent to us next week, which is still over one month late.  Unfortunately, because of the delay, we do not expect to mail the renewal notices until much later this month.

  • Do I have to wait for my renewal notice before I can renew my car, boat or trailer?

No; the notice is just a reminder.  Save time, gas and a trip to our office by renewing online now!

  • Who can I contact to voice my concern about this issue?

Contact the DHSMV online or by phone at 850-617-2000.
