Manatee County Tax Collector Ken Burton, Jr. receives state awards for excellence (Published 09-15-2016)
Bradenton – At the recent Florida Tax Collectors (FTC) education forum in Orlando, Manatee County Tax Collector Ken Burton, Jr., earned the Excellence in Financial Operations award, one of the highest achievements the FTC can award a local tax collector.A five person judging panel made up of government financial executives from throughout Florida reviewed the tax collector's processes as related to the four areas of competency: Innovation & Automation; a Perfect Annual Audit Report; Customer Focus; and Budgeting. Burton also was awarded the Legacy Award, a special designation for excellence in the field of financial operations. A judging panel performed a detailed review of the tax collector’s financial records, practices, and use of technology in the selection process for the honor.
"My Financial Services team earns these awards year after year," said Burton. "Headed up by Director Steve Riley, they take ownership of their responsibilities and perform them with excellence daily. I am proud of them for consistently earning this accolade, but more honored by their incredible service to the citizens of Manatee County."
