Debra Scott is the Manatee County Tax Collector Employee of the 2nd Quarter 2017 (Published 04-12-2017)
Debra Scott, a 25-year veteran of the Manatee County Tax Collector's Office, was named Employee of the Quarter for the second time; the first in 1994. As Quality Assurance (QA) manager, she has become instrumental in achieving the goals of the Customer Solutions and Associate Development (CSAD) Department and the Office as a whole."To give you an idea of Debra's responsibilities as Quality Assurance manager, she supervises tax roll production that includes the preparation and mailing of over 165,000 annual tax bills, 5,000 quarterly installment notices and 10,000 delinquent notices," said Tax Collector Ken Burton Jr. "She also oversees the production and mailing of 300,000 motor vehicle registration renewal notices annually; facilitates the presentation of approximately 104 WebEx classes annually; and administers 2,562 PowerDMS Learning Assessments and Promotional Assessments in an effort to expand the knowledge of all our associates. Debra is a great asset to our office."
"As QA Manager, Debra must be keenly aware of all the areas that make our office work,” said Ronda French, CSAD assistant director. “She keeps her team on task and on deadline; and her team respects her and works hard for her because they see her giving 100 percent daily. Multi-tasking is in her DNA. By reviewing the QA project board, you can see how many projects they have going at one time; her planning, attention to detail and organization skills are showcased by their nearly flawless execution."
"Debra has fearlessly taken on the responsibility of New Hire Training," said Tony Conboy, CSAD director. "Debra created a schedule to encompass a new hire group every 10-15 days, which is something that we have never attempted before. So now we onboard double the amount of potential full time associates, which helps tremendously with the driver license surge the office is experiencing. Under her guidance, 24 new associates have successfully completed the first five weeks of training."
Because Debra mentors and develops her staff, many QA employees have been promoted to assistant managers, managers, and even a department director. Many have been recognized as Employee of the Quarter and for the past two years, two of her employees were selected by their peers as Most Valuable Employee.
Debra demonstrates all of our core values customer focus, innovation, future focus, integrity & respect, teamwork, excellence & accountability, and community & social responsibility. Her name is engraved on the Employee of the Quarter Trophy; she receives a merit certificate, a reserved parking space, a uni-leave day, gets to name a themed casual day, and receives a free pizza from Demetrio's Pizza House, Cortez Road.
