LaToya Benton is the Manatee County Tax Collector’s Employee of the Fourth Quarter (Published 10-12-2018)
LaToya Benton is the Manatee County Tax Collector’s Employee of the Quarter for the fourth quarter 2018. She was presented the award at the annual Columbus Day in-service workday held at the Manatee Performing Arts Center. LaToya was the Employee of the Quarter in 2009, was selected by her peers as Most Valuable Employee in 2014, and consistently earns the annual Perfect Attendance Award.A graduate of Florida State University, LaToya has been on staff at the Tax Collector’s office since 2007. She began her career as an associate in the Customer Solutions & Associate Development department, working her way up to the position of Assistant Manager. In 2017, she was selected to be an accountant in the Financial Services department. Currently she is earning her Human Resource Certification.
“LaToya is the exemplary employee everyone wants in their department. She has an amazing ability to see finite details, has a laser focus on process innovation, and she is a real team player. She brings complete hard work, dedication and commitment every day,” Tax Collector Ken Burton Jr. said, in making the announcement.
“Since LaToya joined our department she has exceeded our expectations,” said Steve Riley, Financial Services Director. “In only a little over a year she has helped compile the budget, has fully cross trained in property tax distribution, assisted in the new property tax software refund and bank reconciliation process, and been involved with another new software implementation. Plus she is awesome to work with!”

As Employee of the Quarter, her name is engraved on the office trophy; she receives a merit certificate, a reserved parking space, a uni-leave day, gets to name a themed casual day, and receives a free pizza from Demetrio’s Pizza House, Cortez Road.
