Nancy Romero is the Manatee County Tax Collector’s Employee of the Quarter (Published 04-14-2020)
Nancy Romero is the Manatee County Tax Collector’s Employee of the Quarter for the second quarter 2020. She joined the Tax Collector’s staff in 2017 as receptionist in the Customer Solutions & Associate Development (CSAD) department. After she earned full-time status as an associate, she was promoted to the Quality Assurance (QA) area where she assumed training responsibilities. Nancy was Rookie of The Year 2018, earned the Top Performer Award 2018, was selected to the Sterling Conference Team in 2019 and is currently an Assistant-Manager-in-Training. Nancy earned her Bachelor’s degree from University of South Florida, taking advantage of the Office’s college tuition reimbursement program.
“Nancy is an exemplary employee, and by that I mean, she does so many different things well that it’s hard to know where to start,” said Tax Collector Ken Burton, Jr., in making the announcement. “Nancy has a thirst for knowledge and is always requesting additional tasks and responsibilities. She exceeds expectations on every project or task she completes and takes personal ownership of all assignments.”
“We nominated Nancy because of the immense display she shows for all of our organization’s core values,” said CSAD Director Tony Conboy. “She displayed the core values of Teamwork, Customer Focus, Integrity and Respect, and Excellence and Accountability last fall when she assisted new associates on the counter, even processing transactions to assist branch management who were understaffed, all the while meeting every one of her deadlines in QA. She didn’t miss a beat. Her eagerness to learn, her drive to excel, her willingness to help, and her positive attitude make her a role model employee.”
“As an example of our core values Future Focus and Innovation, Nancy is responsible for Day 1 of New Hire Training where new associates are introduced to a high-level overview of employment with the Office,” said Ronda French, CSAD assistant director. “She revamped the shipping/mailing process making it paperless for creating end of day reports and generating invoices. Because it’s all completed electronically now, it has cut down on the amount of work and time needed to ship out reports. She also researched, tested, and compared pre and post training assessment programs to determine which would work best for CSAD’s trainings and eliminate the need for creating and printing paper assessments, grading the assessments by hand, compiling and reviewing the results, and scanning and saving the assessments, thus saving management a lot of time. Exhibiting our Community & Social Responsibility core value, Nancy represented the Office at the Holy Cross Church Festival, Palmetto, where she answered DMV and driver license questions, provided insight into our employment opportunities then distributed employment applications.”
As Employee of the Quarter, Nancy’s name is engraved on the trophy; she receives a merit certificate, a reserved parking space, a uni-leave day, names a themed casual day, and receives a free pizza from Demetrio’s Pizza House, Cortez Road.
