(Bradenton FL) Johnae Norton was selected as the Manatee County Tax Collector's Employee of the Quarter for the third quarter 2020. Beginning her career as a receptionist in the Customer Solutions and Associate Development (CSAD) department in 2013, Johnae was quickly promoted to a full-time counter associate. Her dedication to expanding her knowledge secured her a position at the Driver License Office (DLO) as a Subject Matter Expert in 2016. She was recently named as the DLO's Team Leader, serves as the head trainer, and holds her Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification. Johnae was chosen to represent the Office at the Florida Sterling Council's Conference this year, but because of the COVID-19 postponement, she will attend next year's conference.
"Johnae is a stand-out employee," said Tax Collector Ken Burton, Jr. "Her commitment and drive are qualities you don’t find often, and her peers and management teams are clearly taking note. On occasion, we receive two nominations for the same person for this award, but Johnae surpassed the standard and received nominations from five different individuals highlighting her talent, leadership and embodiment of our core values. She is the kind of person you want to have on your team and see excel in your organization."
"Just as the COVID-19 pandemic began to erupt, Johnae stepped in for the assistant manager during a scheduled absence at the Driver License Office," said CSAD Director Tony Conboy. "She took on an entirely new role, and at the same time led her team and customers through evolving protocols and uncharted territory. Johnae saw this as a challenge and an opportunity, and she absolutely thrived."
"Johnae is the whole package," noted Ronda French, CSAD Assistant Director. "As the head trainer for the Driver License Office, she is directly responsible for the development of new team members, and the ownership she has taken over the program shines in her successful track record. She jumps in to help wherever needed, and is constantly contributing valuable input for improvements. Johnae's friendly approach and efficiency are often highlighted in reviews from satisfied customers. She reaches a lot of people with her talents and is a huge asset to our team."
Johnae represents Office core values of customer focus, innovation, future focus, integrity and respect, teamwork and excellence and accountability. Her name is engraved on the Employee of the Quarter Trophy; she receives a merit certificate, a reserved parking space, a uni-leave day, names a themed casual day, and receives a free pizza from Demetrio's Pizza House, Cortez Road.
The mission of the Manatee County Tax Collector's Office is to perform our duties with integrity and respect, focusing on innovation and serving with excellence.
