Recent News: Per Manatee County Ordinance NO. 03-54 the new Tourist Development Tax rate is 4% effective December 1, 2003 and shall terminate November 30, 2008. The additional 1% tax is for promoting and advertising tourism.

Resort Tax, also known as "Tourist Development Tax" or "Bed Tax", is a local option sales tax collected by the county Tax Collector. Manatee County has had a Resort tax since the early 1980's. The Tax Collector after a law change by the Florida Legislature began collecting the tax in October 1989. The Manatee County Tax Collector collects and audits all funds.
Public Records: Resort Tax like sales tax is confidential information and is exempt from public records law. Statistical information like shown on this website is considered acceptable.
Auditing: The Manatee County Tax Collector will send written notification at least 30 days prior to any audit. All records must be maintained and available for an audit.
