Who benefits from the tourist tax money collected?

The Tourist Development Council (TDC) receives the funds. The TDC is a board appointed by the Manatee County Commission. Use of tourist tax funds is specified by Florida statute, and for Manatee County the funds can be used only to finance beach renourishment, promote and advertise tourism, and maintain the Bradenton Area Convention Center. For all applicable uses, see Florida Statute 125.0104.
