Angie McCoy was selected by her peers as the Manatee County Tax Collector’s Most Valuable Employee 2018. Others nominated were CoCo Hanson, Sandra Rodriguez, Alyssa Hamilton, Sharmaine Bridges, Aimee Brewer, Lauren DiUlio, Antonia Medina and Jennie Johnson. She received the award from Tax Collector Ken Burton Jr. during the annual Columbus Day in-service work day held at the Manatee Performing Arts Center.
In the nomination, it was said, “An employee here since 2010, Angie’s knowledge and tenure is really showcased in everything that she does. She is cross trained in almost every area, and her knowledge level is so high that she is the ONLY one that can function as a trainer within every major subject at the branch locations. Angie has a clear record of success with all those that she trains, receiving rave reviews on trainer evaluations, and is often listed on retention surveys as the one who has stood out as being helpful. Her caring nature (and yes, sometimes even her self-proclaimed “mom voice”) is loved and respected by all. Benjamin Franklin said it best, ‘Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.’ Angie always involves trainees to contribute to their success, and the success of new employees is the stem of success and retention throughout our whole organization.
“Angie is selfless and always willing to assist. She is a personal mentor to new hires, a safety net for others, brings new ideas to assist with correcting issues, and shares her opinions respectfully. Angie can handle herself in tough situations with customers while still receiving excellent comment cards. She is the epitome of an invaluable employee.
“Angie fulfills all of her duties to the upmost extent, always going above and beyond in everything she does. She follows up from start to finish, takes ownership of all tasks assigned to her, and is committed to the success of our organization. She demonstrates all of our core values – Customer Focus, Innovation, Future Focus, Integrity and Respect, Teamwork, Excellence & Accountability, Community & Social Responsibility.”
The MVE award carries with it a certificate of merit, name engraved on the MVE trophy, name listed on the Most Valuable Employee page on the office web, a Java n Jive gift certificate, a bonus unileave day, and names a themed casual day in her honor.
