Bradenton, FL – The Manatee County Tax Collector's Office recently awarded Tanya Ranney with the 2020 Lillie Robinson Humanitarian Award. This honor is given to employees who show a passion for helping others and exemplify the tax collector's core value of Community and Social Responsibility.
The "Lillie Award" was named for the former employee who donated thousands of hours of service before her unexpected passing in 2012. Tanya is the ninth recipient of the award and drew in four separate nominations from peers. Other 2020 nominees included Patricia Martin, Angela McCoy, Kristine Reeves, and Kathy Schroeder.
"We all have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others, and Tanya embraces this year after year," said Tax Collector Ken Burton Jr. "Her name is consistently at the top of the list for volunteer hours, and this year was no exception with more than 140 hours logged. Tanya also serves on our Best Business Practice Team, coordinating initiatives in association with Guardian Angels to help provide care for local foster children and families. I cannot think of someone more fit to carry on the legacy of the late Lillie Robinson by receiving this award."
Tanya, who volunteers most of her time with her church cooking weekly meals, organizing youth summer camps and directing the church's live nativity scene, also serves with Manasota Operation Troop Support (MOTS) assembling care packages for overseas military. With a son currently serving in the U.S. Air Force, Tanya has a heartfelt connection with the organization and understands the impact of the packages she sends out for the troops.
"She has a true servant heart," said Tanya's husband, Brent, when speaking about her community service. "She is an amazing person, always thinking about others, and that's why we love her."
The mission of the Manatee County Tax Collector's Office is to perform our duties with integrity and respect, focusing on innovation and serving with excellence.
