Our workforce consists of approximately 95 full-time and 15 part-time employees who work in a fast-paced environment to process the following transactions:
- Motor vehicle, mobile home, and boat titles and registrations
- Property tax payments
- Tourist development tax payments
- Disabled parking permit applications
- Hunting and fishing licenses
- Driver licenses
The Manatee County Tax Collector's office is a constitutional office, which means we are a separate entity from state and county government. We are an equal opportunity employer. Part-time employee benefits include:

Full-time employment
Starting pay for full-time employees is $20.00 to $20.50 per hour. If you have a college degree from a U.S.-accredited institution, you may be eligible to receive an additional $1 to $2 per hour after completing your introductory period.
Minimum qualifications and screening process
All full-time positions require a high school diploma (or the equivalent). Other minimum qualifications include passing scores on computerized performance tests, such as:
- Data entry
- Email composition
- Internet knowledge
- Computer literacy
If you meet the minimum qualifications, you will undergo a screening process that includes:
- Criminal background check
- Previous employer and personal reference checks
- Fingerprinting
- Determination of eligibility to work in the United States
Part-time employment
Starting pay for part-time employees is $15.00 to $15.50 per hour.
We typically offer five types of part-time positions:
- Customer service, year-round (receptionist) – assist customers in lobby, including determining their needs, preparing them for their transaction, and giving them their printed driver license
- Bilingual customer service, year-round (transaction expediter) – assist customers in lobby, including providing them with translation services and assisting them with lobby computers and other office tools
- Mail, year-round – process property taxes and motor vehicle, mobile home, and boat registrations
- Mail, November and December – prepare property tax, utility, motor vehicle, mobile home, and boat payments for processing
- Driving skills road testing, year-round – administer driving skills road tests to customers
Minimum qualifications and screening process
All part-time positions require a high school diploma (or the equivalent) or a status of current student. Other minimum qualifications vary based on the position. For example, most customer service positions require a score of 25 words per minute or better on a computerized typing test, and driving skills road testing positions require a valid Florida driver license.
If you meet the minimum qualifications, you will undergo a screening process that includes:
- Criminal history check
- Previous employer and reference check
- Determination of eligibility to work in the United States
Depending on the position, the screening process may also include:
- Fingerprinting
- Illegal drug screening
