Tourist tax (also known as tourist development tax, resort tax, and bed tax) is a total of 12% tax collected on rentals or leases of six months or less. Five percent of the tourist tax is to be collected and remitted to the Manatee County Tax Collector. Seven percent sales and use tax is to be collected and remitted to the Florida Department of Revenue. The requirements and conditions of that taxation are set forth by the State of Florida and the county governments within the state. For details, see Florida Statute 125.0104.
